Baseball is a combat game played between 2 teams who take turn fighting. The game begins when a pitcher throws a ball and a player in the battle team attempts to hit with a bat. This is also a fun game and everyone can play and enjoy it. In addition to these points, what do you know other stories about the baseball like the history? This will be shown in the article!

A brief history of the baseball

The term “baseball” could be mentioned in 1744 in John Newbery’s children’s book – A Little Pretty Pocket-Book. The book has a brief poem and a picture representing a gamed called baseball.

Several other early sources indicated that bases are known as some others such as a 1749 British newspaper which displays to Frederick Louis played in Surrey, England; played at a base in the American Army in Valley Forge (1778).

Modern baseball has grown from many platforms of the English game of rounders, associated with regional and local games, and also from kid’s game like one old cat. These developed in several centuries.

It is said that the first game of modern baseball was played by the Knickerbockers in the fall season of 1845 in a local park. In an 1857 convention, Wadsworth set up the modern foundation with regard to the number of players and innings. In 1858, Henry Chadwick – a sportswriter wrote in his first rulebook. Although the rules maintain to change by other small degrees, the game has gotten some basic rules that of today.

In the end, the competition expanded and an organization promoted some basic rules and arranged the schedule. This was the National Association of Baseball Players in 1858.

Then, the Dominican Republic also held the first championship tournament in 1912. Later, some professional baseball tournaments and leagues started in other nations during the world wars such as the Netherlands (in 1922), Australia (in 1934), Japan (in 1936), in Mexico (in 1937), and Puerto Rico (in 1938). In Asia region, Japan often has been known as the first country to host several professional championships.

After the Second World War, plenty of professional leagues were held in lots of Latin American countries like Venezuela (in 1946) and the Dominican Republic (in 1955).

In the early 1970s, the Caribbean Series has raised the championship clubs due to 4 main Latin American winter leagues – the Dominican Professional Baseball League, Mexican Pacific League, Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League, and Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. During that time, other countries in Asia also held professional leagues such as South Korea (in 1982), Taiwan (in 1990), and China (in 2003).

As time goes by, several also developed from countries around the world. For instance, the Italian league founded in 1948, the Confédération Européene de Baseball birthed in 1953, Australia won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in 2004.

Who created baseball?

Baseball was created by Abner Doubleday in 1907. Nowadays, this also states by some former players in Major League Baseball commissioners.

For example, they stated as a student of history, we recognize there is a tremendous debate whether Alexander Cartwright or Abner Doubleday truly founded the game of baseball. From all of the past historians, we trust that Abner Doubleday is the Father of Baseball”.

Unfortunately, there was not any record proving that Abner Doubleday invented the baseball game. Some documents also displayed that he did not care about the outdoor sport and he never played sports game in a humorous way.

Is it suitable for women to play baseball?

Some people may suppose that women could not play outdoor sports as these are not ideal for their weak bodies. In fact, women totally played this amazing game since the 1860s. Female students of Vassar College celebrated a baseball team in 1866.

In 1875, a women’s baseball club was established in Springfield, Illinois by 3 men. It had 2 teams which are the Blondes and the Brunettes. In the early 20th century, they also are known as Bloomer Girls and they were so famous in the US. Later, other amateurs and semi-professional teams also followed them.

Some international competitions from countries around the world

Baseball appeared as an Olympic sport in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain. In the late 1990s, the International Baseball Federation allowed professional players to play in several championships. As the Olympic Summer Games occurred during the Major League Baseball season, the Olympic tournament failed to appeal the top players in the sport.

In 2005, the International Olympic Committee rated to fall the top players in the sport following the 2008 Olympics. The similar year has happened in the International Baseball Federation permitted the World Baseball Classic.

This was a triennial international competition between national team included experienced and amateur players. The World Baseball Classic was organized in March 2006. It had 16 teams from all parts of the world and was won by Japan.

For basic information about the international competitions, the number fans of baseball still strongly increase these days.

The baseball history may be not attractive at all, but I think that many of us (at least baseball players) should know. Both of us could identify who invented and how was the game developed year-by-year. Honestly, our budget time is decreased more and more, so it is a smart way to get these 2 main parts only.
